The Olive Branch Foundation for the Care of Orphans and Children is an Iraqi non-governmental organisation running an early childhood care and education center. What matters to us is simple: your child. We give them strong social and learning foundations for primary school and beyond.
Working alongside parents to raise children who know, can and act
Our mission is to help communities flourish by working alongside and improving the knowledge and skills of Iraqi children and local leaders to achieve the change they desire. We seek to bring hope and sustainable solutions to people in challenging situations.
- Improve the knowledge and skills of Iraqi children aged 2 to 6.
- Enable the community to develop its children's skills.
- Train and develop teaching staff to international standards.
- Prepare children to start first grade ready.
The need in Dhi Qar is great
Dhi Qar province has around 52,000 children aged 3 to 6, yet only 11,000 attend pre-school. There are 24 centers in the whole province, and some classes hold more than 50 children in rooms designed for 25.
The child at the center
The whole team works for the child. Teachers teach and follow every child in their class; the services team handles transport, maintenance, shopping, safety and cleaning; the administration runs registration, records and evaluation, and represents the foundation with the ministry and the bank.
